How many outlets offer food and drink in the UK?
Depending upon what you include, we think there are about 400,000 different places serving food and drink. These range from the largest multiple retail grocers to the smallest bed and breakfast. But it can also include major sports grounds, pub groups with thousands of pubs, business and industry, travel, vending and of course all the wholesalers and distributors.
Is my product suitable for foodservice?
This depends on your product! Foodservice products could be regarded as ‘front of house’ where they are sold directly to customers or ‘back of house’ where they are typically used without the consumer being aware of the brand. How do customers use your product?
Can I get my product into the major grocery chains
It depends on your product. Typically, products with the best chances are in categories (groups of product of a certain type) that are growing strongly. However there are still opportunities for products that would add extra sales for a retailer by offering something different or are better value.
How much could we sell?
This depends on your product, pricing, availability and the competition. We can help you estimate likely demand and the ‘size of the prize’.
How long does it all take?
Understanding the opportunites available for your products and formulating plans can take just a few weeks. Building sales can take months – just think – even the biggest retailers would have to reorganise shelves and planograms for new products. The smallest restaurant has to rewrite their menu and wholesalers often need to keep their ranges efficient. So success comes through persistent planned work over months. We can help you plan around this.
